For three years, A House of Our Own has been centered around the discussion of themes and the analysis of literary works by Latinx writers. After reading and re-reading authors’ work, I engaged with them in rich conversations, primarily about their book but also about the craft of writing; how their backgrounds (cultural, educational, etc.) have influenced them, their approaches to archiving their experiences, and their practice of writing and translation.
Beginning in 2025, my column will shift focus to prioritize these aspects of conversation. I will be interviewing debut Latinx authors across genres about their writing journey and editorial experience, with their book as a departure point. These interviews will constitute the body of the column, and I’ll include framing and book excerpts when appropriate.
Thank you to my readers for supporting my work over the years. I look forward to this new direction, and I hope you’re excited to go with me.
