Looking Back at 20 Years of Letras Latinas: Aleida Rodríguez

letraslatinasblog2

I am grateful for the visibility Letras Latinas has given me and my work during this 20th anniversary. Though my work has been included in magazines, anthologies, and textbooks for 50 years, and my first poetry collection, Garden of Exile, won several national awards and went into multiple reprints, nevertheless publication in Poetry had always eluded me. Not only was I included in the Letras Latinas folio published in Poetry in December but that inclusion prompted the staff of Poetry to invite me to record my poem, “Pamela Franklin’s Neck,” as an audio feature for their site. This would not have been possible without the steadfast support and resolute efforts of Francisco Aragón and Laura Villareal.
