For as long as I can remember, Letras Latinas has worked tirelessly to create community among Latinx poets, so I was deeply honored to participate in their 20th anniversary celebration. Whether alongside Dan Vera and Valerie Martinez at The Folger Shakespeare Library or with Carmen Calatayud, Diannely Antigua, and Naomi Ortiz at the Dodge Poetry Festival, I was thrilled to join a dynamic symphony of voices. These events not only showcased the richness of our individual artistic expressions but also underscored the belief that inclusivity is essential because it mirrors the complex, ever-evolving nature of Latinx identity. To share space with such talented poets was a reminder of the power of community and the profound depth of our shared narratives.
